The article "Go-Ahead Singapore rolls out 6-month trial of public buses with solar panels" by Kok (2021) describes the benefits of fitting solar panels onto the roof of existing buses to make them green and more efficient including the electric ones. Kok stated in the article that slim and durable solar panels can generate enough energy sufficient to power the onboard battery. Normally the vehicle's alternator would be the one doing the job. However, installing the panels would result in reducing the load of the engine. The consequences of the execution would see fuel consumption is reduced, leading to tonnes of carbon emission-reducing similarly. Kok mentions the trial aims to test the effectiveness of the panels reducing fuel consumption while ensuring its robust enough to withstand elevated temperatures and daily washing of the buses. In the article by Kok (2021), Go-Ahead Singapore managing director Andrew Thompson stated that Singapore's tropical climate would yi...

With climate change arriving at our doorsteps, we should do what we can to delay its arrival. One such action is the usage of solar panels to generate greener and more efficient energy installed onto the roofs of our public buses, reducing fuel consumption and ultimately decreasing the production of harmful carbon emissions. The article "Go-Ahead Singapore rolls out 6-month trial of public buses with solar panels" by Kok(2021) talks about the benefits of fitting solar panels onto the roof of existing buses to make them green and more efficient including the electric ones. Based on the article, slim and durable solar panels are capable of generating enough energy sufficient to power the onboard battery. Normally the vehicle's alternator would be the one doing the job, however, with the aid of the panels, reduces the load of the engine. The consequences of the execution would see fuel consumption is reduced, leading to tonnes of carbon emission-reducing similarly. The trial...

Task 5.2 "Critical thinking: The soul of communication"

Personal view: How do communication and critical thinking impact your future role as a leader in the workplace. According to the passage, miscommunication is a very costly aspect of any business venture. Even though measures such as effective communication courses are being attended by employees, they lack the insight to truly tackle the root cause of the problem. Effective interaction with others stems from mutual understanding and the ability to digest information accurately, as tools to formulate our thoughts critically. The main culprits of miscommunication came about mainly are assumptions and vague or ambiguous information dissemination. Serving in the Airforce during my NS as a flight line crew, I have personally seen the consequences of miscommunication that would be otherwise avoidable if one were to apply the critical thinking framework. In my line of work, miscommunication not only is expensive but might also claim lives. The experience has led me to reflect upon the impor...

The article “Go-Ahead Singapore rolls out 6-month trial of public buses with solar panels”(2021) by Kok(2021) talks about the benefits of fitting solar panels onto the roof of our existing buses to make them green and more efficient including the electric ones. The article claims these 1.6mm-thick, flexible and shatterproof solar panels are able to generate 1000 watts of energy weighing merely less than 20 kg. It can charge the onboard battery otherwise by the vehicle's alternator, thus reducing the load of the engine. Projected to save 1400 litres of diesel per bus per year, translating to about 3-4 percent of fuel consumption saved and reduction of 3-7 tonnes of carbon emmission per bus per year. The trial aims to test the effectiveness of the panels reducing fuel consumption while ensuring its robust enough to withstand elevated temperatures and daily washing of the buses. The solar panels that would be fitted are at least 3 times thinner and substantially lighter than the stand...
